Have you ever been so motivated to start a project and then you start it and...you think of another project? Then in the middle of that one, another brilliant idea strikes? Well, you can only do that so many times, you know. In this room I'm making over, I (Monica) decided to go for a vintage Paris theme...with spring accents (just during spring, of course)...and somehow the projects just keep multiplying.
Good news, though. The room is painted! I love the color. The stripes are subtle, but that's good. I didn't want to be going cross-eyed with some crazy colors.
Here is a collection of a few spring ideas.
But what am I thinking? I should be arranging my room!
Have you ever found yourself inexplicably drawn to a certain thing?
I'm going through a bird phase.
I think I got it from my sister. She's going through the same phase.
At least it's not something weird, like porcupines or armadillos.
(My sincerest apologies if you collect either.)
Every time I see anything bird-related, I just want to buy it.
Then I think to myself, "Self...really...get control.
Just put the bird down and slowly back away."
Here, I have limited myself to three birds and a cage.
But doesn't it just scream spring to you?
Love hydrangeas, too. Sharing that phase with Merri.
The coffee by the spray paint is a nice added touch, don't you think?
That's to keep me awake while I'm doing projects.
Definitely a necessity.
Oh dear, how did that slip in there?
And now we know why Merri isn't a preferred Pier 1 customer.
We caught her making fun of their sweet decor. :)
And now for the painting update!
This is where I left you earlier...
Please notice that blame chair still in the middle of the room.
My dad called me today and asked what chair I had stuck in here.
He definitely got it out in less than five seconds.
What in the bunch of crazies?
And ta-da!!!
Summer Sandcastle stripes!
See you soon!
I love those stripes... aren't you going to tell us how you did them? I'm Merri's cousin btw... Love the blog! Used to do lots of crafts myself, til I became a mom... I know, that shouldn't be an excuse. Rachel seems to handle that so well and she's got 4... of course, little girls are a lot more willing to participate in that kind of thing than little boys are! Until I can get back into crafting myself, I can live vicariously through watching you guys! Have fun with it.
ReplyDeleteI can't even imagine working this much on crafts with kids around! I admire you and Rachel!
ReplyDeleteThe stripes weren't too hard, but it was definitely tedious and time consuming. We painted the whole room in the base color, and then taped the room in the stripes. Each stripe was the width of a paint stirrer, which definitely helped. Then we went back and painted the stripes in the same color of paint but in a high gloss, waited a couple hours, and pulled the tape off! I was so pleased with it. The stripes weren't overly drastic, but I wasn't looking for anything crazy. Hope all of that made sense.
Oh, and very nice to meet you, Kristi. :)
I can't even remember how I found our blog but I LOVE it!!! We are going to take your idea and paint our dining room with those stripes :) SOOO excited!!! I will have to send some pictures some how.
ReplyDeleteGod Bless
Sarah
bummer it cut me off...and I realized I said our instead of your. Anyway I will have to send some pictures so yall can see how it turns out. Thank you for the idea.
ReplyDeleteOh, I'm so glad you loved it! I can't wait to see it! Make sure you send us pics. I could not be more pleased with my stripes. I was a little worried that they would be crooked because I messed up a couple times, but you can not even remotely tell. Can't wait to see your pictures!
