Monica's Favorite Things

As you have more than likely noticed,
our blog is called "Blue Satin Sashes"
from the very popular song "Favorite Things."
Well, we have decided to introduce you to our very favorite things,
from fabrics and colors to restaurants and movies.
So, without further ado, let me begin...

First and foremost, right off the bat,
no questions asked, top of the list...
family!

Please allow me to make the introductions.
My brother-in-law Seth, my sister Meredith
holding Sweet Baby Aven
(yes, that is her entire name),
my parents, and me.

I could be biased,
but I'm pretty sure I have the greatest family of all time!
Love them!

Okay, now on to matters of slightly less import.
Let's start with bloggy (Is that even a word?) types of things.
If I had my choice, everything in the world
would be black, white, and red.
My room was that color for years, my clothes are those colors,
my hair is those colors...okay, got carried away.
I might've made that last part up.
But I'm thinking who can argue with the classics?
That's what I thought...you just can't!
I recently made a gazillion throw pillows, some plain,
some with different sashes and fabrics tied in,
but these were my basic fabrics.
Love those colors!

Speaking of style and the classics,
please meet my friends, Audrey and Jackie.
We are great friends...in my mind
(imagine that in a Nacho Libre voice).

One more thing...I could watch old movies,
as in all day, every day (sigh).
Recognize these people? Yes, more friends.

Okay, on a different level.
If someone had to combine two of my very favorite things,
I think they would have to come up with something like this...

Barnes and Noble and Starbucks.
Really, brilliant, folks, brilliant.
I could sit in there for hours.

If I went on a shopping spree for my house,
I would have to stop all of these places...

Do these stores make any of you so happy that you feel teary?
No? Oh, okay, must just be me. Hmm. Weird.
Mo-o-oving on.

Favorite place I've ever been...

New York at Christmas.
Times Square was the greatest.

Favorite restaurant?

Maggiano's. You have to try the chicken and spinach manicotti.
Favorite dish in the world.

Quaintest place, pretty much, ever?

Edgar's Bakery in Birmingham.
It's mine and my sister's favorite place to visit
when I go to see her.
Now it's tradition. Cutest place with some
so-good-you-can't-even-believe-it strawberry cake.

Best violinist ever?

No question...Mairead Nesbitt from Celtic Woman.

Current favorite singers?
Now let me explain...
this family is beyond musical.

The Collingsworth family!
The dad is beastly on the trumpet,
the mom is unreal on the piano,
the older two girls are amazing on the violin,
and the whole family sings.
Crazy, I tell you.

If I could go anywhere in the world,
I would visit Paris.

Truly the most beautiful place. In pictures, anyway.
If you know differently, don't tell me!
Let me have my little dream. :)

Now for the little things that make me smile...

Just when you thought shoes couldn't be any more fabulous,
you find some sweet red heels.
Shoes could be what break the bank for me.

I know I need to practice more than I do,
but I absolutely love playing the violin.

I love to read.
My favorite authors are
Irene Hannon,
Dee Henderson,
Karen Kingsbury,
and many more that I can't even name.
I can be content to read for hours.
I believe that if you love to read,
you are truly never bored.
They also say that if you can't enjoy your own company,
don't expect anyone else to, either.
I've tried to take that to heart. :)

Next,

If I say that I love grammar,
does that make me weird?
Because if it does, I'll just leave that little tidbit out. :)

Is that one weird, too?
I must be reverting back to my childhood.

Next, we have...

The busiest airport in the world.
Whether I'm coming, going,
or just driving by,
I love the Atlanta airport, the hustle and bustle,
the millions of people. I just love it.

Favorite perfume ever!

And, last but not least,

your Atlanta Braves!
I have always been enamored with them.
It could be from the fact that ever since
my sister and I were little girls,
my dad would make us put our hands
over our hearts whenever we passed the stadium.
Great memories. :)

I have imparted unto you my favorite,
albeit slightly quirky, things.
And now we can be forever friends.
